NJREC supplies amorphous transformer cores for single-phase and three-phase distribution transformers where reducing no-load loss is a design priority. Formed from thin amorphous alloy ribbon, these cores are particularly relevant to transformers that remain energized through periods of light or changing load. The core arrangement, window dimensions and joint design are reviewed against the winding layout and assembly process, while the ribbon edges require care during handling. An amorphous core may help reduce no-load loss compared with a suitable CRGO design, but the result depends on the material, operating conditions and complete transformer construction.
