NJREC supplies CRGO transformer cores and amorphous transformer cores for transformer manufacturers and project buyers. We help clarify material specifications, core dimensions, performance requirements and the required supply condition before quotation. Core selection is based on your transformer design and the agreed order specification.
CRGO cores use cold-rolled grain-oriented electrical steel and are widely used in power and distribution transformers. Their material grade, steel thickness, joint arrangement and core geometry should be specified together to match the winding design and magnetic performance requirements.
For CRGO transformer core enquiries, specify whether the drawing requires a stacked or wound construction, together with the joint details and assembly state. Available material grades, dimensions and configurations are confirmed against the drawing.
Material specifications: electrical steel grade, strip or lamination thickness, and any required material documentation.
Design requirements: limb cross-section, window dimensions, stack thickness and joint arrangement.
Supply scope: the required core assembly state and any specified clamping or supporting components.
Amorphous cores use amorphous metal ribbon and are commonly considered for distribution transformers where reducing no-load losses is a priority. Specify the operating frequency, design flux density, loss limits and available winding space when evaluating an amorphous core.
Identify whether your design requires a single-phase core-type, single-phase shell-type or three-phase arrangement. Ribbon width, core build-up, window dimensions and joint geometry should be shown on the drawing.
Magnetic requirements: core loss and excitation limits at defined frequency and magnetic flux density.
Dimensional requirements: ribbon width, core build-up, window height and width, and joint dimensions.
Handling requirements: the agreed surface protection, assembly condition and packaging instructions.
Compare both options against the same transformer design requirements. Material choice should account for magnetic performance, winding space, assembly needs and the cost of the complete transformer.
Selection Factor | CRGO Transformer Core | Amorphous Transformer Core |
|---|---|---|
Core Material | Cold-rolled grain-oriented electrical steel | Amorphous metal ribbon |
Typical Application | Power and distribution transformer designs | Distribution transformer designs prioritising no-load loss reduction |
Key Specification Details | Steel grade, thickness, joint arrangement and core dimensions | Ribbon specification, core build-up, window dimensions and magnetic test conditions |
Assembly Considerations | Joint alignment, dimensional compatibility and the specified assembly state | Winding space, joint geometry and handling or edge-protection requirements |
Compare loss and excitation results at clearly stated test conditions. Specify whether each requirement applies to the raw material or the finished core.
Send the latest drawing revision and the following information so that NJREC can confirm the supply scope and prepare a quotation:
Material: CRGO or amorphous alloy, specified grade and strip or ribbon thickness.
Configuration: phase arrangement, core construction, joint details and required assembly state.
Dimensions: overall height and width, window dimensions, limb dimensions, stack thickness or core build-up, and tolerances.
Interfaces: mounting, clamping and winding-clearance requirements, where applicable.
Magnetic performance: operating frequency, design flux density, core loss and excitation limits, units and test method.
Order details: target core weight or handling limits, sample or batch quantity, order schedule and delivery destination.
Identify any parameters awaiting confirmation. Material grades, dimensions, surface treatment and associated components are agreed for the specific order rather than assumed from a general catalogue.
Inspection starts with the approved drawing and the agreed acceptance points. For a CRGO order, these may include steel grade and thickness, lamination dimensions, window and limb dimensions, stack thickness, joint arrangement and the specified assembly condition. For an amorphous core, the review may also cover ribbon specification, core build-up, window size, joint area and the condition of any agreed edge protection. Tolerances and the stage at which each dimension is checked should be stated on the drawing.
Tell NJREC which records you need with the shipment: material identification or certificate, dimensional inspection report, finished-core magnetic test report and packing list. A material loss value in W/kg is different from a finished-core loss result in W. If core loss or excitation is an acceptance requirement, state the limit, test frequency, magnetic flux density, test method and whether testing is on the material or the finished core. NJREC will confirm the supplier's test capability, report format and any additional inspection before the order is agreed.
Packing depends on what will arrive at your plant. Cut CRGO laminations can be identified by piece group or stacking sequence; pre-stacked packets should retain their orientation and identification for assembly. For an assembled core, the packing plan should account for overall size, weight, lifting points and the agreed transport position.
Amorphous ribbon edges and the joint area need protection from pressure and movement during handling. If your assembly process requires a particular lifting method, edge cover or support, include it in the order notes. Moisture protection, restraints and outer packing are confirmed for the route and mode of transport.
Provide the destination, requested delivery date and any limits on unloading equipment or package size. NJREC can coordinate the packing list and case dimensions with the supplier before shipment; the agreed packing method, shipping terms, minimum order quantity and lead time are stated in the quotation.
This category covers transformer cores. Specify the required core material, configuration and supply condition when submitting an enquiry.
Start with the transformer's no-load loss target and the space reserved for the core and windings. A CRGO design can be reviewed by steel grade and thickness, joint arrangement, core dimensions and the required supply format. An amorphous option needs its ribbon specification, core build-up, window dimensions, joint layout and handling requirements checked against the same transformer design.
Ask for loss data at the same stated frequency and magnetic flux density, and check whether each value is for the raw material or the finished core. Then compare winding clearance, assembly steps, transport condition and the cost of the complete transformer. If a current CRGO drawing is being considered for amorphous material, have the dimensions and assembly sequence reviewed before treating it as a direct material substitution.
Yes, NJREC can review your drawing and check the requested core with a supplier. Send the latest revision showing overall size, window height and width, limb or core build-up dimensions, joint details and tolerances. For an assembled CRGO core, show any clamps, mounting or lifting interfaces; for an amorphous core, identify the ribbon width, joint area and required edge protection where these are relevant to the design.
Also state the material grade or preferred material, operating frequency, loss and excitation requirements, quantity and whether you need cut pieces, packets or an assembled core. If a drawing is still preliminary, mark the undecided dimensions and acceptance limits. NJREC can review the enquiry first, then confirm the feasible specification, test scope, price and delivery against the approved revision.
State the loss limit, units, frequency, magnetic flux density and test method. Clearly distinguish material-specific loss in W/kg from total core loss in W, and state whether acceptance applies to the raw material or the finished core.
Provide the drawing, material specification, performance requirements, quantity, supply condition and delivery destination. Minimum order quantity and lead time depend on the agreed product and order volume.
